Office XP and Office 2000

I just bought office xp and am thinking about installing it. However, all of the campus computers are currently running office 2000. Are files saved in office xp able to be used in 2000? I know that microsoft integrated this support with office 2000 for office 97.
 
The Office XP format is the same one used in 2000 and 97. So yes, those computers will be able to read your files.
