Hi y'all,

It is once again time for our office to try and upgrade our machines. We are a mid-level Architecture office that utilizes AutoCAD, Rhino3D + Rendering, and the Adobe Suite primarily. We use Dell Precisions because of their warranty. The build we have been quoted by our IT consultant (who's advice I never trust) can be found here:http://i.imgur.com/fhobw1S.png

Since I have limited familiarity with the new Xeon's I was hoping some kind soul might be able to offer some advice in finding the sweet spot?

Budget wise we would like it to keep it around $3,000 per machine.

My initial thoughts were to jump up to the Quadro K4200 and add a 500gb SATA drive.

Thank you!

It seems to me the most important upgrade would be towards the graphics card since that seems to benefit a larger percentage of work these computers will see (CAD, modeling work, adobe). Jumping to a 6 core xeon would largely benefit rendering, but I think that is on the smaller end of the usage spectrum.

Is the 1630 worth the $200 difference with the 1620?
