Office Space Moments...

We have a lovely HP printer here...

I was trying to print and it actually said "PC LOAD LETTER"...

and yes, I'm about 3 seconds from beating it with a baseball bat.

Because I just had to................... 😉

PETER
Our high school guidance counselor used to ask us what you would do if
we had a million dollars and didn't have to work. And invariably,
whatever we would say, that was supposed to be our careers. If you
wanted to build cars, then you're supposed to be an auto mechanic.

SAMIR
So what did you say?

PETER
I never had an answer. I guess that's why I'm working at Initech.

MICHAEL
No, you're working at Initech because that question is bullshit to
begin with.
(The printer is not working)
If that quiz worked, there would be no janitors, because no one would
clean ****** up if they had a million dollars.

SAMIR
Well, I would invest half of it in ??? Mutual Funds and give the rest
of it to my friend, Saheib, in Securities.

MICHAEL
Samir, the point of the exercise is that you could figure out what you
want to do. And then?
(reads the printer's display)
"PC load letter"?!! What the fvck does that mean?!!

He knocks off the paper tray.

WTH is PC LOAD LETTER?

I mean its not like they could use a more cryptic message to say "out of paper"

WTH is wrong with "PAPER EMPTY"

Printer settings have different types of Paper sizes (Legal, a4, letter) and Paper Types (Plain, letterhead, etc). So depending on your settings if you have all tray's set to different stuff and you print something with a different selection the printer will say PC LOAD LETTER or something of the sort, so it doesn't really mean that the printer is out of paper, it just doesn't have the correct paper to print what you requested on the type of paper you requested.

PC LOAD LETTER = Paper Cassett, Load Letter sized.

Great! Never knew what that meant.

However I still stand by the much more common sense of "OUT OF PAPER" to rememdy the situation.

I always thought the PC was Personal Computer. so pc load letter was "I got a job from a PC so load some letter sized paper"

You think that's bad, wait till you use one of these fvcking fax/copier/printer machines that beep every 5 seconds when it can't find the paper. OMG!!!!!

Cryptic printer message apologist. 😉

I'm sure everyone always gets the "why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam"

I get that a lot.

I also have grey cubicles just like in the movie, and similar annoying banners like "is this good for the company"

I love that movie.

Do you like Michael Bolton?

oh, we have one of those too...the "xerox special"

a 15k hunk of garbage...the thing, much like california law, is overly sensitive, has way too many options, and requires a PHd to operate.

I would invest half of it in low risk Mutual Funds, and take the other half over to my friend Asadulah, who works in securities, and...

Fixed.

LOL.. When I worked at an engineering firm (everyone there was a nerd), and I was printing about 200 pages, I got that message on their HP Laserjet.. I laughed my ass off - couldn't help it. It said exactly that.. "PC LOAD LETTER" So I shouted, "PC Load Letter?! WTF does that mean!?"

I thought I'd get a round of laughs around the nearby cubicles.. But then they all just looked up for a sec and then went right back to douching it up with AutoCAD. So then I proceeded to get pissed at the entire office that closely resembles Office Space for not seeing the movie Office Space. I couldn't believe they didn't see Office Space.. I mean.. imagine 20 pocket-protector engineers that haven't seen office space.. WTF
