What would cause office 2000 to install fine on Win XP one time, but then after it was unistalled and then tried to be reinstalled it came up with soem sort of error like: E:\OFFICE1.CAB cannot be opened or does not exist. I then tried installing office 2000 on another computer iwth win xp and it worked fine. Any suggestions?

No suggestion my friend I just wanna note that I faced exactly the same problem and assumed that my cd's life was over...Now I think it isn't and perhaps Microsoft wants us to switch to OfficeXP....
PS: Can u ignore the error message? If u do, does it install correctly? (working properly that is)

Update from the.....battle field- I tried again to install Office2000 and I got the error that a file from the cd (E:\....\Msproof sth...) could not be opened or missing, in a window prompting me for Retry or Cancel the installation. I pressed Retry and everything was completed succesfully and working in the real world! Why don't u give it one more shot?
