I have a co-worker that is out of the office for 2 weeks. We have been trying to come up with an original idea of what to do to his office. The usuals or expected things being:

- wrapping their whole office in ______
- filling their office with ______
- small things like changing keyboard keys and such

We are trying to stay away from these things as we want something more original that is still not harmful to the computers etc. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks! :)

As funny as some of these are...none are realistic as we don't have access to his computer and we aren't going to harm company property by taking a crap on his desk or something.

On that same theme, hide a praying mantis egg sack in his office. After he forgets about all the pranks you do now, the mantises will be a surprise :^D

Not to mention it'd be AWESOME.

oh there was a thread on here one time that featured a device that emits a beep very similar to one of the windows xp alert noises or the POST beep on boot up but the interval is completely random. it is frequent enough that the victim usually spends hours trying to find the source but it happens infrequently enough that it is difficult to pinpoint.

Edit, also fun, assuming it wouldn't get you fired:

well, we have physical access to the machine, but we don't have his username/pass obviously. Without hacking in we could swap out the hard drives or something. The noise thing has been done around here a bunch and people find those pretty quickly.

If you had his username/pw a prank I always found amusing was to screenshot their desktop, then hide the start bar and move all their icons. Then make the desktop background the image you screen shotted. They'll wonder why nothing they click on their desktop is working.

Take all the cushioning out of his computer chair, replace with something really crinkly.
Ink on earpiece of phone.
screw/glue desk drawers into place.
Completely reverse/flip the orientation of his office space.
Glue wheels of office chair so that they dont roll.
Fill desk drawers with tampons or pads.
Paint a japanese Anime girl ontop of his workspace.

replace the entrance to his cube with a partition panel so there is no entrance. Place a ladder there for him to use to get in and out of his cube

if an office with a doorway, drywall over the doorway so there is no entrance.

Pretend you don't know him when he comes back, call security and have him arrested for trespassing...

we do this thing around here often it seems. the other thing we have done is completely remove everything from the office including the desks and act like they don't work here anymore. These things are common and expected! Need more originality and not destructive like fish or praying mantis' everywhere!

Tell him your company just got a good deal on some proprietary software, but the downside is it only runs on Win98, so everybody got their computers downgraded. Swap HDs in his box, with one that has Win98 installed. Use Classic theme on everyone else's computers for added realism.

Replace the windows default sounds with pornographic audio clips. Use a wireless speaker hidden above the ceiling panels of his cubicle and a usb transmitter hooked up to one of his PCs internal usb ports to produce the audio.

A good one is changing his hosts file. Find some websites that he goes to frequently and direct them to a new IP. It can be quite frustrating. The other good one is using a piece of clear tape and go over the phone handset connections. Everything will look fine but the phone handset will not work.
