Office politic question

I'm 27 years old working as a IS analyst system administrator for a big corp. I can say I'm one of the younger aged group which is only a hand full at this company. My co workers do not treat me seriously and dump their work on me and expect to deliver. In most cases I'm a hero, but when I do miss something I'll hear about it throughout the department. Anyone in similar situations? What office politics do you deal with at your work?

By the way my coworkers have 10+ more experience than I do, all in their 40s.

why don't you take that up with a manager who does not directly throw the work at you?

sounds like you have some good work experience, take it and leave

you will probably make more where you end up too

LOL..never thought of that. But you are right. I'm this little asian guy who gets pushed around. And do have the passive personality like Harold.

That is an option but its a good company to work for and room to grow. Hate to leave it all.

yeah, if you really feel "they" are coming down you, you need to bring it up with the manager. unless of course, the manager is the one doing it, then you need to set up office claymores.

time to break this passive asian complex nonsense.

I was an Information Systems Specialist for 2 years. I started at 18 and am 20 now.

The key is to not LET yourself get walked on. I told people to shove it on numerous occasions. Ended up bein great friends with the CEO when the problem got escalated that high. He told me he liked that I stand up for myself.

I now work in a different dept making twice as much.

If you're being given too much work, speak up now before you get overwhelmed. It's better to piss off the boss a little bit now than to piss EVERYONE off later when you start missing deadlines.
