Office/Outlook 2000 question

I have a perfectly good running Win 2000 Pro box that has the original version (no SP/SR) of Outlook 2000 that I use for email. I do not have any version of Office presently installed.

I want to add the full version of Office 2000 AND be able to integrate Word as the Outlook email editor. I have an Office 2000 SR1 CD set, and want to end up at SR1a to avoid the attachment issues of SR2.

Having had trouble in the past installing Office 97 full version on to a machine that had Word 97 pre-loaded with a different SR version, I want to get this right the first time.

I'm tempted to un-install Outlook (after a .pst backup) clean the registry and then install Office SR1, followed by the Office SR1a live update from M$.

Any thoughts people?
