Office notebook recommendation: ultraportable

Currently at work i have a 5 year old IBM thinkpad with 15" screen. I am due for an upgrade and thought that i would actually request a specific model.

Currently at home i use Acer 1810z which is great.

Here are things that i am looking for:
Horse power too run office (excel/work)
8+ hrs battery life + < 3lbs (so i can carry it for meeting to meeting without recharging or killing my shoulder)
11.6"+ screensize (mostly cuz i have fat fingers)

So basically i can make do with a Acer 1810z but with enterprise build quality.

two further things:

-budget ~$1k likely max (i paid $550 for the acer)
-one upgrade i would like to fit in is a SSD HDD

x201i is best bet - rugged, no flex, best KB, fast HDD, and battery life between 4-12 hrs depending on cell. Comes with latest i3's 5's so it's fast.

Here is one I bought but returned because I did not want trackpad and picture is off, it has track pad. (damn stock images)

Smoking deal because when configured at lenovo it's over $1250 with discount and with bing cash back here you can get it $67 cash back from that low price.

This one comes with 6 cell so about 7 hours is what you'll get.

You want a serious ultra-portable notebook that'll last 5+ years this is it. No competition unless you upgrade to 301's.

Only potential down side is matte screen - seems people like glossy screens now but they suck in brightplaces so...

2nd the x201 ... personally im waiting for the x201s to reappear again...

What would be the batterylife (mostly using for word/surfing) of X201 with i5 and SSD? (6cell battery)

probably 8+ hrs... but i would recommend you upgrade to the 9 cell battery ... not because of the extra batter life ... but because if you're walking around its a lot easier to grip it by the extruded 9 cell battery and can walk around while typing then if you have no grip for the 6 cell
