Office Networking Question

I work for a small business that has about 6 computers networked in the office. BellSouth provides an ADSL line to us, that is passed from an ADSL modem to a Linksys router. The problem is that every hour or two, we lose connection, at which time I must turn off the Linksys Router and ADSL modem and unplug the ADSL line from the wall jack for 30 seconds or so. After turning everything back on again, I can then access the Router's diagnostic tools via the host computer. I click on Status, then re-connect the PPPoE. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes for the PPPoE to re-connect. My question is this, what is causing that PPPoE (what is that?) to disconnect so often? Do we have a bad Linksys Router? Should we be networking off of something besides an ADSL line?

I would appreciate any advice you professional network admins may have.

You should have a option to enable Keep Alive in the router.

Also, go to Linksys' site and download the latest firmware for your router. After you do those two things, let us know if you have more problems. 🙂
