maxmyrebates.com already told me everything was received and "awaiting final processing" 2 months ago. Now they are saying they are waiting supported materials! How and why would the website
state progress if it supposedly didn't even have the materials??

They are asking for the materials again because they know that I sent the UPC in and I cannot cut out another one, since there is only one. I also sent in the receipt, and note that they didn't request copies, but the originals themselves in the first place.

What the fvck!?

They also didn't reply today. It is Christmas, but they did respond yesterday, so who knows.

I can't send the crap in because I already did. The rebate required Original UPC and sales receipt.
They know I already sent it in and now they are requesting it again because they know I can't.

Call and complain.

If they won't do anything, go to your local OfficeMax with copies of your receipts, rebates, UPCs, etc. and make a fuss. They'll do something about it.

Fvck that, I'm going straight to the BBB and the state's attorney general.

Almost all people that I know who had rebates never received them.

These damn companies just think they can blatantly not pay

Rebates are a scam for people who don't take the time to take a few extra steps to ensure that their rebates go through.

I send off rebates all the time. I sell a lot of Hot Deal items on eBay, so I always have a steady stream of rebates coming and going (I mailed off about 12 rebates last week and received back about $200 in rebates in 7 checks in the same week).

99% of the time, I have no problems with my rebates b/c I always print clearly, put accurate information on the rebate form and always leave an email address. As an added precaution:

(1) I make copies of everything with my scanner (UPC & Receipt) and include them in their own seperate folder on my computer under "Rebates."
(2) I keep a copy of the rebate form in each folder so in case there is a problem, I have the phone number to contact them
(3) If the rebate form lists a tracking website, I check it every once in a while to see if my rebate is being processed correctly. If I spot an error/rejection, I hop on the phone right away.
(4) If a rebate gives you the option of electronic submission, DO IT!!!

For the 1% of the time that I have had problems, this thread has been a big help in tracking down phone numbers to contact the various rebate processing houses:

http://www.fatwallet.com/t/54/58957/

That being said, out of all the hundred and hundreds of rebates I have sent off, I've only lost maybe 1 or 2. Both of them were from I/O Magic for about $30 b/c I/O Magic is just plain evil anyway. I never buy their products anymore.

yes the best advice is to KEEP COPIES OF EVERYTHING, including your reciept, upc, manual, birth certificate, voter registration, letter from your third grade teacher, etc...

oh and self plug: I'm tinkering with a rebate tracking program. Keeps track of where and when you bought stuff, when you sent it and to whom. I'm planning to add all the contact numbers from the forums too... it's a work in progress but it might help all you rebate folks. and yeah it's free but don't get mad at me if it loses your rebate files (please make copies), causes errors, erases your hard drive, causes impotence, etc. please report those bugs to me if you encounter them (except the latter!) so I can fix them. thank you

the only item I got from officemax on Black Friday ($29 DVD dual layer burner) had 2 rebates for $40...just got emails last week saying both were in final stages of processing...

Only had one issue with Office max on a rebate for a memory stick. I brought the denial postcard saying that I bought the wrong product to the store I bought it from and the manager just gave me a $20 bill from the register.

still have about $400 in rebates out right now...

Hope you have copies of your submissions....

People just blatantly do not want to pay sometimes even if everything was sent in.

If a rebate requests original stuff, what makes people think that you can send in a replacement copy?

They'll get what they deserve.

you only need to send the replacement copies if the rebate peope say you sent in the wrong paperwork or if it was lost, etc...

all you will have at the point are copies anyway since the originals were mailed already...

NFS4 nailed it... You absolutely need to keep copies of all the items submitted... If you have that, with Office Max you are much better off going back to the Manager of the store where the item was purchased and showing them copies of the items submitted. They have a different number than the public number to get through to someone and get rebates moving when problems arise... I had a rebate for a Cendyne DVD burner through OM that took about a year to finally get... only by going through the manager was I able to get it processed.

I understand that, but why would they revert the progress?

I shouldn't even have to show a copy of anything because they are morons.

The site showed that everything was everything, so why bullshi_?

It's cool though.

dude you're the one being the ass. they're actually trying to help you. they won't just up and give you the money unless you PROVE that you sent them anything in the first place. maybe the big machine was wrong, someone hit a button wrong.... log into the site again and see if it still shows processing, and ask them why on the customer service end it says that they still need your information.

Freesia, you shouldn't post if you can't read.
I've already asked them why it says that and they didn't reply.
Second, it is not my fault if they hit the "button", now is it??

If it were me that made the mistake, I would be S.O.L

EDIT- Also, when each piece was turned in, it noted it on the website.
First, the online rebate form, then the materials were reviewed and accepted. Then, for two months
it was in the "final process" or whatever.
