The Office Max here in Boulder, CO had three moew 50X cd-roms sitting on the shelf.

Mine is an Affrey, and although it is a bit noisy, it runs just fine while I send my ACER 50X back to be repaired.

Did anyone look at the Protege organizer? How weak is it? Is it any better than a cheap regular organizer?

They have it in the ad for about $18, but they also state that the regular price is only $20. I haven't seen any specs on it so I don't know if it's even worth $18.

I picked up the CD-Rom drive Saturday and returned/rebought it today. I opened it up and WOO HOO it's an AFREEY CD-2050E. This is a damn good drive. It's %100 CloneCD compatible and it will do 50x DAE according to tests done by CD Speed. Does anyone know where to ge the latest firmware for this drive? The latest firmware unlocks the 50X DAE.

I ordered the 50x cd and the modem from the web. Last I checked, this morning, both still listed as "inv" or whatever it is. I was kind of expecting a cancellation.... or a long wait ala the iomega drive I got from compusa over the holidays, then the fedex truck pulled up with the box. Whhhhooooooo hhaaoooooo!!
The coupons were down when I got on board; but, that's ok. About 6 bucks (tax) and the cost of a stamp or two seems like a good price to me. Nice back up modem for the second computer and by all accounts a decent cd-rom.

Damn it.

I ordered both the modem and the cd rom and it showed OPN on my order (STILL SHOWS IT), but I got the modem and no cd-rom. I called up and she didn't know why it showed OPN on the site's account status. Officemax really needs an overhaul of their site. Neweggs order tracking is 100x better than Officemax's.

Anyway, I tried. I still got the modem for free, and the gave me credit for the $25 off coupon that I used on the original purchase.

SO I ended up getting two NCR inkjet refills and the modem for $39.98 (before the $30 MIR for the modem).

Not too shabby..,

The rebate is listed here under HP/Mouse HP 2100 Scanner; I-73806 Mouse. I got to looking at the rebate form that my friend sent me. The mouse and scanner are on the same rebate.
