One of the many here that leaves everything a mess, what is your issue? Why is it you flat-out REFUSE to help keep the office just a little less crappy? You just HAD to put your grubby dish in the sink that is already overflowing, didn't you?

Oh, what's that? The dishwasher is full? Too bad we don't have this soap and brush sitting right here for you to use in just such a situation. I'm sure it will work great to remove the...

...Wait... What the HELL was in that mug anyway?! Oh my god... I'm sure you left that sitting on you desk with that sludge in there for a week. You know what? Just throw it out.

Oh look! The dishwasher is done, someone even emptied it for you! That means you can load your dishes in the machine now that there is... WHOA, whoa! Did you seriously walk right past the machine and just stick it in the sink anyway, what the HELL!?

If this kitchen is any representation of our work, then it's no wonder our code is a giant mess that is crawling with bugs.

It's disgusting. Even when it is kept clean.

People eat some pretty awful things. And, they are usually awful things that have been sitting around for a few days in their own terrible refrigerator at home.

I have actually know coffee aficionado who refuse to "wash" their mug. They claim the soap will actually alter the flavor of their favorite roast.

Also, why are you spending time examining dishes in the kitchen? Perhaps, if you spent as much time examining your check-ins, you'd have less bugs.

That is why I only get water from the break room where I work. People get put on weekly shifts of kitchen duty. So I stay out. We got a mini fridge for our work area to avoid having to dirty up and deal with peoples messes. I refuse to clean up after the nasty slobs that do exactly as you described.

talk to your office manager or something... we keep a pretty clean sink because there's a big sign next to it saying any dishes left in the sink after 6 pm will be thrown out by the cleaning staff.... it's the cleaning staff's job to clean the sink, not your dishes; since they can't clean the sink out when it's filled with dishes, they've been given the OK to throw it in the trash.

ditto for the fridge, it gets emptied out every Friday night.

Trying to fathom an office kitchen with a dishwasher. My last couple jobs had disposable plates, napkins, and silverware. A sink for rinsing your own dishes after a meal, and that's it. All have been kept quite clean.

water + vinegar, best microwave cleaning tip I ever learned. :thumbsup:

nuke it for a couple minutes, and afterwards all the crud should wipe right off (and lingering smells should be gone).

my office has a dishwasher along with two sinks each with a garbage disposal, 4 fridges 2 upright freezers and a stove. the cleaning crew loads the dishwasher every night when the start and empties it before they leave.

Sadly people are slobs for the most part. I learned this well when I was running my tech business. It could be in a 5 million dollar mansion on Palm Beach or a $250/month crappy apartment in some ghetto place.

Both places I am talking about I felt like taking a shower when I left after a couple hours.

We had a minor incident last year. A couple people would bring their lunch in a resealable container, then leave it in the sink after eating until they were ready to go home. They could simply put the lid back on, take it back to their cube, and wash it at home, but no.

So one co-worker (only three of us knew who it was) started throwing the containers away if he found one left in the sink. Accusations of container theft were thrown around, but since the containers were in the trash, there were no containers to be found in anyone's cube, and no one could ever be caught carrying a stolen container around. The turning point was when one victim put up a flyer in the breakroom saying to watch for people stealing containers from the sink. The guy who was throwing them out wrote on the flyer "We will continue to steal every container left in the sink."

And no one left them in the sink since that day, but people still think there was a gang of people stealing containers.
