Sorry, it looks like you're on a slow connection, so this might take a while.

I still like disks. I got office in the HUP but I ordered the disk with it.

How would you like your Office to look?
Code:
No Background
Calligraphy
Circles and Stripes
Circuit
Doodle Circles
Doodle Diamonds
Geometry
Lunchbox
School Supplies
Spring
Stars
Straws
Tree Rings
Underwater

when did they decide to design office for junior high girls?

And it's just some tiny squiggles in the toolbar. It makes it even more cluttered.

Choose no background, then go into the Options menu and you can select "Dark Gray" as a color scheme (I think they call the color options "Theme", and the squiggles "Backgrounds"). That makes it a lot more readable, especially in the menu areas.

I hate web installers. I want to have all the data at my finger tips, and if I decide I want to install it in 15 years from now for whatever reason, I want it to still work.

reading your tags...hopefully about to close on a house soon. Moving from 7 glorious years on Comcast to a choice between Bright House and AT&T. It's like asking "would you like advanced full blown AIDS or day 3 of a terminal Ebola infection?"

Microsoft does everything at a glacial pace. When their stuff is up and running, it does pretty good, but god help you if you want to install, or update a package.

Venue 8? After a week or so let me know how it works for businesses. Been thinking about getting one. Wish it came with outlook though.

You can also have the Office apps jump straight into blank documents instead of the template chooser by going into the left sidebar:

File > Options > General > uncheck "Show the Start screen when this application starts"

That way it goes back to "normal". That plus the dark gray background color is about as close as you can get it to vintage Word & Excel.
