I have four local Office Depots in my area. I visit one the other day and they had a clearance table with all Linksys products marked 50% off. I picked up a few items and then moved onto the next store. They too had the prices discounted 50% but no separate table. The third store I visited would only sell me two items at that price and the last store would not sell any.

These are some of the deals I got:

BEFW11S4 - Wireless Access Point w/ 4 port switch - $59.99
WPS11 - Wireless Print Server - $74.99
WMP11 - Wireless PC Card - $49.99
WUSB11 - Wireless USB Adapter - $39.99
USB100M - Compact USB Adapter - $15.99

All four stores told me that the reason for the prices is the OD is dropping Linksys and picking up D-Link and the contact with D-Link states that they can not sell any other manufacturer. So if your local store hasn't started, they should soon.

Getting BEFW11S4 is a good deal, a little over a year and a half ago I bought mine for $220. Just make sure you get the version 2 one because the first version is a piece of cow poop. You have to reset it weekly, they break after a year, and just aren't NEARLY the quality of equipment that the version 2 one is. I should know, I returned 2 version 1 ones, both which would constantly need resetting. But now that I have a version 2 router I haven't had to reset it once and I've had it for 3 months.

I don't know much about linksys wireless routers, but shouldn't the firmware be upgradable?

I called and they don't have that model of access point :( They had another one, but it was $149.

Just got back from the local OD. Prices still unchanged (at least on wireless stuff), even though the people there agreed that the Linksys stuff is being cleared out. Will try again later, and hope to catch a deal. The only items of interest are likely to be the BEFW11S4 and the WMP11 (and only the first of those, at $60, seems like a deal).

How do you know if you're getting version 1 or v2 of the Linksys BEFW11S4?

Where on the box is it indicated?

yea, you can get all that at about same price, but usually after rebates, or you have to wait for it to be shipped. this is less hassle

First you have to find the deal. Then if you wanted to use a printable coupon you would have to use the $15 off $75 that is only good this Sat. & by that time if you even found any in the first place they would surely be gone by Sat. so don't be toooo tight.

I just spoke with the manager in Lexington. He said the info on the promo showed up on everyone's email this morning. However, he hadn't received his gift vouchers yet and was going to have to keep a list of interested customers and call them back when they came in.

No luck on the Wireless Router/AP at the University District OD (Seattle, WA). By that, I mean that they were OOS.

I was thinking more along the lines that they had pretty much the same prices or cheaper here last week in the flyer, it didn't "seem" that they were ditching linksys alltogether as there were literally cases! of the cablemodems and the routers (are they just ditching wireless?) regardless the guy at my store said something about siemens is going to be the new hardware for networking?? I never knew that they had a large consumer presence in networking, anyone? at any rate it felt like at my store they had been phasing out the wireless linksys for quite a while, I'd been trying to decide to buy a wap11 then they just hadn't gotten any in for what seems like months. they did have the wireless router though, but it was gone as of that last sale.
Obviously I shop at OD WAYYYY too much :)
Atleast I have a good excuse since I moved to a stone's throw away, walk by it twice a day. too much for me too pass up...
back to work now...
