You might keep an eye out at your local OD to see if they put it on the clearance table.

code on receipt- 072286827305

I bought 3 @ $25.88 each at Stone Mtn, GA store(HWY 78)

Has anyone ever daisy chained these suckers to get extended battery time? My simple mind says it should work but don't know about the clamping ability of electronics to shunt a voltage surge?

Hm, that's a good deal and an interesting question. I don't know enough about the circuitry inside the UPS's to make an intelligent guess about it, but I would think the worst thing that could happen is it just not work.

I've probably got a bajillion megabytes of webspace but can't find where some are at and the ones that I found I can't find my passwords!
Anyone want me to send it to them to post to a page?

email me: tswadkins@earthlink.net

ps- best of luck because I have never been able to get any of the Office Depots in the Atlanta area to pricematch a clearance at another store.

RE: Daisy Chaining UPSes - it is probably not really a "Good" idea, you will not get the same effectiveness as having one ups that is twice as big.

However I'll try to ask a buddy who is an engineer at "a major UPS manufacturer" and see if he says it'll actively do anything *bad*. Probably not, but still - smarter to put one UPS on the PC and the other on all the periperhals if you really want to extend runtime.

RE: Daisy Chaining - here's the message I got back from my friend who works for a UPS manufacturer. As usual, your miliage may vary and I make no claims to the accuracy of this info, so if you plug one ups into another and blow up your house, not my fault. ;-) It sounds like the only real problem would be in how the 2nd UPS deals with the square wave input from the first one.

----

It would not be very efficient. However, If you have more than one UPS you can have one power the CPU and the other power the monitor and printer. That would give you a much longer run time. Also, many UPS's output a square wave and this tends to degrade the input MOV's of the second UPS. What will happen if you plug one UPS into the other is that the first UPS that is plugged into the wall will drain it's battery trying to power the other UPS rather than powering a lighter seperate load (Like a monitor and printer).

Listed at $70 with a clearance sign here in Reston, VA. :/ Thanksfully, I got the 350VA UPS for $25 from there many, many months ago.

Thanks Flot for the info!
I emailed APC tech support several times over the last 6 months but they always dodged my question (I guess they were covering their tails with a safe answer).

Don't plug a UPS into another UPS! It is the same as plugging a surge protector into a ups which is very bad unless the UPS has true sine wave output or special protection. The only UPSs that I know of that don't put out pure sine wave and you can plug a surge protector into are APC Back-UPS Pros and Back-UPS Offices.

You could plug the comp into 1 and monitor into another. That would not be a problem. I prefer to just use 1 large one.

That is a very good price, but if you have a big monitor, speakers w/sub, burner, etc. hooked up to it, 325 isn't really big enough. I would hold out for at least a 650VA. That way, you can not only shut down your PC properly in the event of a power outage, but you can actually FINISH what you are doing (including a burn, a small paper, a letter, etc). I like the 1500VA that I got from outpost.com late last year for $99.99-$6ebate=$94 overnight shipped. Outpost still has some pretty good deals on UPSes w/ free overnight shipping. They also still offer an ebate, but I'm not sure if it is still 6%.
