This was in the Post-Dispatch this morning, maybe the store is closing??

Office Depot Entire Inventory on Sale - No Exceptions - This Location Only 9059 Watson Rd, Crestwood
Save on: All Computers - Printers - Monitors - Copiers - Digital Cameras
20% off all Date Planners, All School & Art Supplies, All Desktop Accessories and much more!
15% off All Binders, All Briefcases & Portfolios, and much more!
10% off All Office Furniture, All Paper & Office Supplies and much more!

All Discounts taken off the lowest ticketed price.
All Sales Final - No Refunds or Exchanges - No Rain Checks.

I would assume you could still return/exchange merchandise at one of the other locations, but I'm not sure, so you might want to ask if you go there. I'm gonna check it out tonite and will post more details afterwards.... Might be an opportunity to Price Match at Office Max if you have a coupon for there, and save more money than buying at Office Depot. Not sure if Office Depot will accept coupons in addition to the already discounted prices.

No, you can't, there is a sign taht says "all sales final" I asked a cashier specifically if I could return at another area OD, and she answered without hesitation "no." IF an item is defective you are supposed to deal with the mfgr. I don't get why they are doing that ...

I was considering getting one of theose 19" philips monitors athat are cheap AR, but buying from this store would have only given me an extra 5% off & frankly it's not worth it if I can't return/exchange a problem unit.

sure were lots of folks there though. no lines at the registersx though (friday night 7:15 pm)

unclebud -- you're not missing much, there weren't that many good deals (though of course it depends what you re looking for). I'm sure teh % off will go up before long. If you remember Grandpa's closing, it was best to wait. I got a really nice artifical xmas tree for like $10 the very last day (normally $150). same thing with HQ, Hill-Behan, etc

I called this morning and ask a CSR about the sale. Justin confirms other posters comments that the current sale is a joke. Beside saving very little, the word is no PM or taking coupons. Also the store is schedule to close in 6 to 10 weeks. I wait until the knock down is above 50% before driving down from Florissant. How far east of Lindbergh is this store? On which side of Watson?

The problem with getting bargains after an ad is placed in the newspaper is that the psueso-professional bargain hunters show up when the discount is low. Back when Grandpa was dying, I saw dumba** people buy crap at reduced prices that was above a Venture, Kmart, or even a Grandpa sale price.

Edit: (credit to Murph) The store is several miles east of Lindberg, on the North side of Watson, near Sports Authority. (you think I'd get the directions right the first time, considering how long I lived in the area!!!)

Good Luck and thanks for addl info -- guess I'll head over there in 3-4 wks and see what's left.

Actually it's closer to 3-4 miles from Lindbergh in the strip mall with Sports Authority behind Applebees (Past Crestwood Mall). It's on the left by the railroad tracks. Sounds like you got it confused with OfficeMax.

And on a side note-- least this thread is letting me know how many local Anand'ers we got here in the STL. :) Explains why I always seem to miss those B&M deals. :)

Thanks Murph - my mistake! I'll edit my post to reflect the correct info -- that's what I get for replying before I have my coffee!

I went saturday morning, its the same liquidator that did the downtown store liquidation (yes, they are closing up). He'd steal the change from his grandmother if he had the chance. I circled, didnt find anything and left. then this Joe had the nerve to say, couldnt find a deal with all the clearances :disgust: dont know if Ill go back because of him.

OT comment -

wwwwwwell ... kinda hard to not be buying crap when you were shopping at grandpa's. wasn't it? ;)

I also live up near U-City & I was so glad to find out it was Value City that was buying Grandpa's out. I remember back when the only Value City was down in south county, I would drive down there to get some incredible deals of QUALITY merchandise. I actually once bought out the stock of something retail at Value City that I was able to turn around at Xmas and flip for a profit on ebay! no PM or rebates involved. shopping at grandpa's sometimes felt kida like shopping Goodwill or Odd Lots ... for the last year or two, until the discount on the Out Of Business sales made it worthwhile, I just didn't go there anymore.

Back to my comments about stupid folks who will buy overvalue junk at a slight discount. I stopped at the local Service Merchandise store the first weekend of what going to be a prolong going out of business sale. I witnessed long lines at the registers, which amazed me after looking at many low quality items on the shelves. Regular prices for the same s*** at Kmart would have saved money for these shoppers.

On the other hand, a friend attempted to sell good quality new hockey equipment at a Sunday flea market in Wentzeville. My friend soon realize that the typical hoosier didn't know what good hockey equipment sold for and just wanted something for nothing. What really got the guy p***ed off was that a nearby "darrell" got top dollars for cheap knives.

I still remember one of the originial Grandpa Pigeon. It was up on the rock road, just down from I-70. No AC and the aisles were so narrrow it was a fire trap waiting to happen.

went to a service merchandise store once a couple years ago. i've seen the closeout ads in the paper, but haven't even bothered to go look. It surprised me they stayed in business this long.

The latest local going out of business sale that is a real joke involves an OfficeMax B&M. It's the store located at NorthWest Plaza, which is in St. Ann.

I spotted the ad in todays newspaper and decided to run out to the store. Take my word, it ain't worth your time and effort. Basically, the clerks and jerks had marked down from the so-called regular price with sale prices that made me laugh. Mostly what was left was unwanted s****, primarily demos. Plus, nothing could be returned to another OM if you had a problem.
