I'm not 100% sure what speeds or specs these disks have. I just noticed them in my Sunday flyer. I think the Memorex and the Philips are 8X while the Maxell is only 4X.

Maxell® DVD Media 15-PK
DVD+R 15-PK 650-680 $4.99 per Pack Reg. $11.99 add to list
DVD-R 15-PK 650-400 $4.99 per Pack Reg. $11.99 add to list
Memorex DVD Media 15-PK
DVD+R 700-288 $4.99 per Pack Reg. $11.99 add to list
DVD-R 697-792 $4.99 per Pack Reg. $11.99 add to list
Philips® DVD Media 15-PK
DVD+R 585-304 $4.99 per Pack Reg. $11.99 add to list
DVD+R 881-236 $4.99 per Pack Reg. $11.99 add to list

all shows $11.99, does it need coupon?

Showed up as 4.99 for me when I chose in store pickup.

cool!
dont forget $10 off $50, floating around the net

Buy 11 packs and use the coupon and it would be $.27/disk. Not too shabby for 8X media.

I don't think any of the Maxell/Memorex/Philips disks are TY. I've never seen any. I think more than likely they are Ritek media.

I bought a 25 pack of 8X Memorex -R media from OD the other day and it was Ritek G05.

The Maxell -R spindles of 4X, 25 disks that were on sale a couple of weeks ago at OD were TY. The MXL media ID should be just as good.

Staples has Maxell 20-pk DVD+ and -R for $3.50 (with jewel cases) on clearance, if you can find them in store.

Stopped by at Office Depot on my way home from BB, all disks were made in Taiwan, so no TY there. Maxells might be good, if they are indeed made by Maxell and not CMC or Prodisc, personally, I don't like to play lottery.

If anyone wants TY, BB has Fuji 50 pack for $20 out of the door, not much more expensive than this deal, and guaranteed TY if you find made in Japan spindle.

Maxell doesn't use prodisc or cmc, if made in Taiwan, the +R is ricohjpn, and the -R is ritek. And if made in Japan, they are either MXL (made by maxell) and TY. Maxell discs are as good as TY.

i like maxell discs even better
taiyo discs are heavier though, with nice bevel and peanutty smell

what's the diff between +R and -R really? I bought some Philips -R and they burn fast, never failed, and play in any of my 3 DVD players. What's the big deal about Ritek, TYG, etc? What are Philips?

TY's are proven disks that are consistantly great. Other vendors like CMC, Prodisk, etc are hit or miss. Sometimes you get a good batch and other times you don't.

I prefer TY, Ricoh, and Ritek disks. They've always been great.

The Philips I've had in the past were CMC Mag discs, but I think they were +R's. I had trouble with them in a couple of different players. Never used Ritek, but the MXL, MCC and TY have worked flawlessly in all players.

I went to the Office depot today in Garden Grove and it looked like the shelves were raped! The only empty space on the shelves were where the DVD should have been. Oh well, maybe next time.

my store only has the maxell -R left. I guess it's HQ no matter whether it's from Japan or Taiwan.. right?
