My dad right now has a 4 yr old P2 133 or so. With like a 6gig harddrive and 32mb of RAM, and of course he is complaining to me that its slow, and tells me to install Win2k on it. Im like "Dad, first of all that system won't run win2k..." He asks me why and I tell him.. So he says well how much will it cost to make it so I can run win2k..
So basically what I want to do is build something that will be fast enough to open basic stuff, Word/Excell and other programs like that, along with internet surfing. I don't need to buy a new monitor/keyboard/mouse any of that crap. I can use parts I got laying around the house. I dont suppose I need to buy a new CD-ROM or A-Drive I got a few old spares lying around. So how what parts do you suggest I puchase for his computer, lowest possible price, its not going to need to run games or anything heh.
I was thinking maybe go with an AMD maybe 1ghz. 256 PC 2100 DDR ram? And some decent AMD mobo. Im thinking thats all I'd really need to buy for him.
