Since I got my new system I've been spending a lot of time in front of it. This has made me realize how much my present chair suck. So I'm looking around for a decent one. Any suggestions. The local office store has Global chairs. Are they any good? My price range would be max 300 Canadian with tax.

I've also been to some local used office furnature stores in town. I've seen a few chairs that I like but can not tell if I'm getting a good deal on them. What should I be looking for?

I'm a cheap bastard, so I just found one that had arms and was comfortable to sit in. The one's I've bought were all ~$100 usd. Don't know the name brands..

Actually, I went into Best Buy of all places and walked out with a wonderful chair for $70US. I like it even better than the office chairs we have at work. Adjustable height and back, arms, great lumbar support. Perfect for sitting in front of Diablo II for hours on end.

I got a nice leather chair from OD for $100 USD a few months ago. It's very nice, I could (and do) sit for hours playing games and posting on AT.

Global chairs are well made, comfortable and a great investment. Most have all the ergonomic features you'll need in order to adjust the chair to make it your own. Got mine on sale at Grand & Toy for $199 so watch for sales. Make sure you get a chair with back height adjustment that can be raised high enough to support your shoulders. Adjustable arms are important too and often overlooked. Go around and sit in a few... for $300 you should be able to get a great chair!

You will not find any office chair more confortable

You bet. They have those chairs down in our Georgia office. Very nice but a tad bit more then I want to spend. Some good input so far.

Not sure exactly what brand mine is but it's a really nice "leather executive" one... your chair is not something to skimp on. My friends used to make fun of me constantly for spending $200 on "just" a chair.. til they sit in it;)

I don't think I'd ever pay more than USD $100 for an office chair. Even though my current one is leather I'd rather have a fabric chair - oddly enough those tend to cost MORE than leather does.

I would suggest:
Visit a retail store and actually sit in, spin around, recline and test the chair in real life.
For stability find an office chair which has at least five spokes.
Make sure your office chair can recline.
Hydrolics (going up and down).

I'm not sure if OfficeMax(dot)com delivers to Canada or not but they have several $25 off $100 coupons with free shipping and save another 4% if you order through eBates.com
