The Microsoft activation phoneline appears not to have human operators any more - or at least the computer hung up on me after being wrong and refusing to activate my Office 😛
So, I have Office 2007 Home & Student that the box says is licenced for 3 PCs. I've had it for years and keep it installed on my current machine. Currently have it on my desktop only. It no longer activates over the internet, apparently I've activated the key too many times. I activate by phone and haven't had any issues before.
So, new laptop and I want to install Office. On it goes, won't activate, phone the activation line, tap in the numbers. I'm asked "On how many PCs is this copy of Microsoft Office installed? One PC, or more than one PC?" Not wanting to lie to uncle Bill I say more than one (I'm licenced for 3 after all).
The computer says I may only install on one PC and I must obtain another licence. Hmm. . .wrong. . . I wait to be transferred to a human operator, but the machine just hangs up on me, so I can't even plead my sob story.
So do I call up again and lie, say it's only on one PC? Will that upset my desktop that I already have office installed on? Will my key get banned altogether? Will it remember I called up 10 minutes ago and refuse even if I give the answer it wants? Is there another phone number that connects to real people?
etc, etc. Hmmpf.
