Office 97 product code lost

I recently upgraded computers, and tried to install Office 97. I don't know if the code/id # from before changes, or I wrote down the wrong one. I know I have read how to fix this somewhere on Anandtech, but have forgotten where. Also, is there any legal problem installing Office 97 on a new machine if the old machine will no longer in use? Thanks for the assist.

Don't know if it works
And yes even though U will not be using office on the old box U should uninstall
or format the old drive to be legal.


Update ok I just tryed it downloaded from the first link
it worked for my win xp key I have office 2000 so I got no other keys,
nothing bad came with it ie vir. or spy.
So go for it, use on old machine to retrieve Ur key.
tip: I allways put key on CD with marker when I get software.

Thanks. Looks like a useful little utility, so I grabbed it as well. Compared my XP Pro key to what it found and confirmed it was accurate. I have it in my Utilities folder now just in case I ever need it.
