Office 2013 - Question About Different Versions

I have a Thinkpad X220T Tablet, and I was looking into installing Windows 8 and Office 2013. The main reason is because I don't have any version of Office so I figured I would get the latest version. Another reason is because I would like to get the most out of the touch screen functionality.

I was looking at the different versions of Office, and I saw some tablets that come with Office 2013 RT, which apparently has touchscreen features. The thing is that I thought the other versions of Office 2013 had touchscreen features because that was the whole thing with Windows 8 and Office 2013 etc.

I was wondering which version I should go for.

Windows RT is Windows for ARM processors (like the processors in smartphones). It is only available for some tablets that say they are running Windows RT. Office RT is designed for people running Windows RT. It will only work on Windows RT.

Your laptop runs the full normal x86/x64 Windows 7 or 8. You are supposed to get the Office for it either Office Home Student/Professional/etc. Office RT will NOT work on your laptop. See here which edition and features you want/need under comparison http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Office_2013

Having a touchscreen or not does not affect the version of Office you get. You can enable a touch friendly interface by doing this in the regular (non-RT) version of Office 2013

Cheapest place to get Office is here if you qualify

Put in your e-mail and see if you qualify (use a school or work e-mail, not a gmail address).
