Office 2003 -- How do you like it?

Once I save up some $ I think I'll be buying the basic version. How is it? I enjoyed the beta. I especially enjoyed being able to minimize Outlook to the task bar.

You can do that with any version of Outlook.

What I actually meant is minimizing it to where your clock goes. Like when you minimize AIM it goes into the bar whatever it's called, I can't think of it right now.

Never really cared for Microsoft Office. I prefer Open Office since it's free, and a poor college student can't afford Microsoft prices.

He is still right, you can minimize it to your SYSTEM TRAY OR your TASKBAR in Outlook XP.. it's a registry key.... either way I don't know that I would pay money to have an icon moved to my SYSTEM TRAY 😉

Normally I would be ragingly jealous, but I've become adjusted to Linux and it's programs (as everything is free with Linux), so I'm only a slight bit jealous. 😛

I really like the new office... especially Outlook, it's so organized. I use it for everything. Calender, reminders, emails (ofcourse) and etc. I know you could do that stuff in office xp as well but it was such a mess. Now I can just open outlook 2003 and stare at it for moments in love 😕 😛

for us Office isn't $5. All other MS programs are $5, but for Office you have to pay regular prices.

Heck I'm still using Office 2K SP3. Since everyone else and everywhere has just upgraded from Office 97, it seems a wise choice for compatibility reasons. Plus, it does much more than I'd ever need to do.

I read that it has some of the most useless features EVER. That you can turn let the document destory after X days, etc. How friggin' stupid.

Or if you send a document, you can prevent that it is printed out, etc.

uh, why's that stupid? it's not fool proof, but it doesn't hurt to have a few additional controls over what people do with your document.

For security reasons, obviously. I think I'll stick to the 2K as long as possible, all this new stuff bothers me.

well yes... presumably you wouldn't be able to open the document without office 2003 for security purposes.

and you dont' want them to print out a document becasue you don't want to leave a paper trail / evidence or anything that could be used against you in the future.
