Office 07 won't install

I kept getting install failures, and came to read Microsoft's Website regarding this. Seems you need to have Framework installed which this particular PC did not. So I installed dot.net framework 1.0 and still no install would work.

Next I called Microsoft and they logged in to the computer. They removed dot.net framework 1.0 and installed 1.1 but still no joy. They agreed to call me back with a solution but never did.

So now I'm appealing to you all in cyberland. HELP! Thanks a million.
 
Dude did you give up on XP in your other thread and go to vista? Or is this a seperate machine?

Anyways, without your error message it is somewhat difficult to troubleshoot. If you think it may be related to dot net did you also try 2.0 and 3.5?

Boobs: Different machine. Further versions of dot.net failed too, and Microsoft Tech Support had no idea why. They never did call back like they promised.

RebateMonger: I need to restart the install procedure to get you the error message; sorry. It seems to proceed all the way through and just when you're expecting it to be done it fails. Then it rolls the install bar back.

This is a downloaded version from Microsoft's website paid for by credit card.

Machine has 2 Terabytes free drive space and 4G of RAM. Other than this, it runs fine (For Vista)

Will report in the morning (Fri) with the error code.
 
Error 1935: An error has occurred during the installation of an assembly component. That's the error. MS told me yesterday that this was a common error after a system update, but not common on an Office installation.

Just a thought, Try asking microsoft for a cd/dvd of the software.... Might be a bad download..

Thanks I just talked to MS again and they said the #bytes on that DL file was correct. He had me disable all MS services with MSconfig, and run setup again.

It failed with the exact same error. Again. He said he would call me back in 15 minutes. Yea I've heard that before.
 
This Microsoft KB still looks like the most likely problem.

I'd install a different version of .NET. The KB discusses .NET 2.0. A look at my Vista installation, which is running MS Office 2007 Enterprise, only seems to have .NET 3.5 installed right now. Note that you can have multiple versions of .NET installed.

dotnet 2 tells me that it's already installed in the OS with Vista. 3.5 will not install. Microsoft tried three times adn I just tried two more.

If you can't fix this problem on your own I suggest that you call a support group I tried
this support service before and they help me fix my computer problem. Try calling them at
