Offensive thread locking

A moderator just locked my 'You know you're Asian' thread in Off-Topic. I am aware that some people have found that thread offensive, the vast majority of responders (mostly Asian) found it humorous.

Basically, I have a question. If I find a post offensive, is that grounds for the entire thread to be locked? I don't think it should unless I (and the AT moderator) find the message extremely prejudiced.

By chance, did the AT moderator who locked the thread read the list?

Just curious.

Yeah I don't think it should have been locked either, it's like a redneck joke or blonde joke list, ragingbitch took offense and asked it to be locked

So I'm asking if one person wants a thread locked because he finds something offensive, why is it locked? Is it because he posted a message in 'Forum issues.' I find it unfair.

If the AT moderator read the list and also agreed that the post was offensive, I would have no problem with the lock.

Threads are locked at the mods discretion.

Some people may or may not have found it offensive- but ultimately the mods make that call.

In recent times there have been a lot of threads with dodgy ethnic content. Some of these have flared up and become quite offensive.

The mods aren't showing a lot of tolerance on this front and i really can't blame them

As long as a mod has reviewed the thread and made a judgment call, its cool with me. I just wish that they would delete the last offensive post in that thread.

I also find it funny that the mods allow a topic like 'Rice boys' that's meant to ridicule, but not a post like mine.

What can you do? The mods are gods.

I second trmiv..."RagingBITCH" is definately offensive, and should be banned :). Seriously though, the thread should not have been locked. It did not offend me or the rest of the Asian people that replied. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most of us found it very humorous. Even if you had to ban it, wasn't the moderater message a little harsh?

I took a look at the thread and I can see why the mod locked it. Many of the users were commenting that the list was a bit racial.

Racism is taken seriously here, so I can see why it was not allowed.
