maxima.org search function doesn't work.... but there is a bracket in the way on the driver side... it blocks the strut-bar mount... any ideas? Am I supposed to just cut this off via dremel??

nothing. I can't imagine what it's for... it's welded to the the top of the shock tower and is covered with factory paint (i.e. some nut didn't put it on there... it's supposed to be there..) but nothing is attached to it. I'd take a pic but I don't have my camera

How about a drawing? It's there for a reason if it came from the factory that way.

is the metal thick or thin? maybe its for holding the resovoir for a clutch master cylinder, that is if the shock tower is that close to the firewall.

hmm didn't think about that

Um, I didn't have to cut anything off in my 98, and I haven't heard about anybody else having to cut anything on any other model year Max.
