Seems to be a proliferation of threads in OT about software and hardware support in the last few days.

We need the warning sticky back in OT and the threads locked or moved.

Newbies need to know the rules.
 
it seems that the problem is if you post in the correct forum (i.e. tech support or operating systems, for example), you'll probably have to wait several hours for 1 response. if you post in off topic, you can have several responses within minutes, and you can have a conversation about fixing a problem.

now, theres a simple way to solve this, but getting rid of off topic has been discussed ad nauseum in the past, so its tough to decide what to do.
