Wasn't sure where to stick this question, so I'll put it here I guess...

Anyone ever tried to "Add" a keyboard pull out tray to a desk? I recently won a desk in a raffle, nice desk... just no keyboard pull-out, which is something I'd really like, anyone ever tried to add one on to a desk?

I've looked around can't seem to find any ideas on the net really....

Yeah... don't do the clip-on keyboards unless:
1) It's a *REALLY* expensive desk (in which case you should sell it immediately! :D )
2) You don't want to drill holes in it.

If you're going to keep it for computer use, do what Zugs^^ said. ;)

Holy cow... he's a Platinum member and yet I've never seen 'im before.

I built a desk into a wide closet for my first computer. :) Pulled off the sliding doors, mounted 2-by-4s to the 3 walls, mounted a flat piece of plywood to those. Then made a simple pullout for the keyboard underneath it. Nothing but a flat piece of wood, with a couple of pieces of wood on each side to make L shapes for the flat piece to slide on (and a stop on the back of the flat piece, and on the front of the L pieces, to stop it from falling out or tilting). Could make it using a single grooved piece of wood for the L rails on each side, but mine was just a piece of wood screwed to another.

Doing it that way gives you control over how wide the drawer is (if your desk is wide enough). Most keyboard drawers aren't wide enough to comfortably hold a keyboard and a mouse, and I hate having the mouse on a separate level. I'm trying to figure out how to widen and mount a new drawer for my own.

i work at OfficeMax and they carry a couple different solutions.
1.) a small tray that sits on TOP of the desk that you can put the monitor on and pull the keyboard out of that.
2.) a clip/clamp on deal, it's good if you don't or can't drill into the desk (also the most expensive)
3.) the ones you mount underneath, most durable/strong setup (most popular from what i see)
Look for something made by "Fellowes", i'm sure you could find it at any office supply store.
What kind of desk did you get by the way ?

www.rockler.com has some. They are easy to install. I made my own desk a couple of weeks ago, and bought keyboard tray slides and made my own.

Rockler carries nice adjustable keyboard arms with tilt and swivel, along with trays. Not cheap though.
