Off to the dentist

my family recently got a new dentist...seeing as though our old dentist office went through 3 different dentists (all died of cancer before 40 yrs old)...and, while the new office has a younger staff and better equip...I cant stand the guilt trip they put you through. The WHOLE time they are giving me crap like "you know..you can get mouth cancer becuase you dont floss".........Listen lady, I come here to get my teeth cleaned...and possibly get cavaties filled...NOT so you can tell me how to take care of my teeth. I brush twice a day and that is plenty...if i wanted to floss...I would've started by now....

/Rant

"Quitting smoking is just as hard as it is to start flossing...."Hey man, you seem Jittery....Yeah, Im about to Floss"

my dentist never told me you can get mouth cancer from not flossing, just cavities.

Never heard that one before. You should tell her you heard you can get vaginal cancer if she doesn't douche at least twice a day.

LMAO.

anyways I floss, my teeth feel cleaner afterwards, but the same goes for mouthwash.

its great when you go to two different dentists and one says "OMG you are DOOOooooOOOooommmmed your teeth will fall out by the time you are 30"

and the other one says "you have great teeth just keep doing what you are doing" (in regards to brushing n such)

Ugh, how can you not floss? Brushing & mouthwashing won't begin to touch the buildup between your molars. My gums feel weird if I go more than a couple days without flossing. I do a complete flossing every other day.

Agreed. Especially when you stop going to the asshole one because of it.

Whoever told you that you will get cancer for not flossing should lose their license. You may get horrible gum disease and lose all your teeth, but you will not get cancer.

you're complaining about getting "The speech" while millions of us don't even have insurance, don't have the privilege of getting our teeth cleaned by a dentist or getting routine regular checkups, don't even know what it feels like to have a "family" dentist or doctor and etc.
So stfu and suck it up and sit through the speech

How about you STFU and get a job that provides dental insurance or how about you pay for it yourself? Life isn't a free ride you know.

are you a freaking idiot? I'm talking about my upbringing, I'm sorry that my single mother couldn't get a better job that provides dental insurance when she was raising us

Should have said that in your original post then.

Still, just because your family could not afford dental care you come in here and tell the OP to STFU. Yeah, there's a way to gain sympathy. Like I said earlier, life is not a free ride. There were plenty of things my family could not afford when I was growing up, and there are things I cannot afford to buy now. That being the case you won't see my taking my anger out on someone who can afford such a thing.

I dont want you falling in with a bad crowd again...

Oh no! Its the cavity creeps!

Sex, that gives you AIDS......

I went to the dentist for the first time in 4 years a couple months ago. Amazingly I had no cavities. But I got a speech about not flossing as well, though they didn't threaten me with cancer, just gum disease/tooth loss. They did spend an extreme amount of time getting the tartar out from under my gums, and my mouth was a bloody mess by the end. I followed their advice and flossed semi-regularly for the first couple weeks after that. But I guess my bad habits have returned as that was about 3 weeks ago. Maybe I'll floss again tonight.

Life is a free ride, did someone sucker you into paying before you were born? :Q

I'm not going into a lengthy reply.. or try to prove anything.

I just want to make it clear I have no anger towards the OP. Just because I said "stfu" doesn't mean much of anything.

I just started flossing about 3 months ago, after I had 2 cavities filled in between my molars. They said it was a direct result of not flossing. Now when I floss, I get tons of crap out from between my molars, so I know I am doing it well.

I hate getting fillings, and I also hate paying for them.
