Off-loading CPU Processing

I don't really know which forum to put this, I guess I'll try here. I was working with Adobe Soundbooth on my macbook pro and thought about this while my laptop slowed to a crawl. Is there a way to take, say a cpu intensive thread that's on my laptop, and offload that to a CPU on a server within the same network? Would that be software/OS dependent?

You COULD use a vnc client with no compression and remote desktop it, assuming you would have at least a 1gb LAN. But that still might produce lag and imperfect colors.

So really, it isnt all that practical.

You'll have to use something like a remote desktop to get this to work. You aren't going to be able to say "This application run on this system and give me all the visual feedback".

However, IIRC, macs are based on an X type platform. So it could be technically possible to ssh into the server and have it forward x requests back to you. But that assumes your server is a X based operating system (linux, or mac OS).
