Of the 3 cards, which would you take?

My local retailer has the following cards available:

Saffire X1800GTO $258.00 CAN
eVGA 6800GS $266.00 CAN
eVGA 7600GT $272.00 CAN

The pricing is close enough that I can consider them equal. With that said I would take the 7600GT hand down. I play pretty much everytype of game under the sun. Any objections with taking the 7600GT?
 
I'd pretty much agree, though the 7600GT is a good option too.

Just avoid the 6800GS of those choices, & you'll be happy.
 
X1800GTO has Avivo for superior video quality and acceleration, costs less and often outperforms 7600GT with AA/AF enabled? Check.

 
Plus some of the 1800gto will unlock to 16 Pipes instead of the stock 12. I dont think Sapphire is unlockable though the best canidates seem to be HIS and Connnect3D cards. Mine was a HIS x1800gto with the gto being a sticker over the x1800XL label. flashed boom had an 1800XL for $150.
 
7600GT. newer technology, yet the 1800GTO is relatively new too, so take your pick.

the 6800GS is outclassed now. no point in getting it if you are going PCI-E.

Actually, the 7600gt is older technology, mostly carried over from the 6-series.

eVGA is a great company and their support is very good. You will be happy with that card compared to the others.
 
7600GT can be had for cheaper, and the performance is nearly head to head. Plus it's shorter, runs cooler, draws less wattage. AVIVO is not as mature as Purevideo, so I wouldn't consider that an advantage. Although some say AVIVO has better image quality, it only applies to standard definition. 7600GT's inverse telecine is the deal breaker for anyone who wants higher image quality. 7600GT no doubt the better buy. Don't get me wrong, I love ATI, but X1800GTO just isn't a all around card. Maybe x1700XT in the future.
 
7600GT can keep up with the x1800gto even with AA/AF.Buy according to your prefs.
7600GT- louder,good performance, low power draw & purevideo.
X1800gto - chance to unclock to 16 pipes,AVIVO, equal performance to 7600GT even with AA/AF but better IQ.

How is the X1800GTO not a "all around card?" It has more features than the 7600GT including better IQ (HDR+AA, HQ AF) just as good video quality (reverse telecine really isn't going to be a deal breaker anytime soon). Also most 7600GTs lack VIVO.

read the review as proof that the X1800GTO is better. The X1800GTO has a 256-bit interface compared to the 128-bit interface of the 7600GT, which helps it some.

couldnt agree more

6800GS is getting old, the 7600GT is a dman good effort of a card, but the X1800GTO has em beat IMO, 256bit memory interface is the clincher dispite the 7600GT being very efficient using its smaller 128bit interface.

just dont bother with the 6800 if you got the choice of the others. if you can afford the x1800, then thats what i think you should go for. if you wanna save some money or you want a more compact, graphics card....then the 7600GT. you wont go wrong with either choice.

The 7600 is more expensive, so most of that makes no sense whatsoever. :S

Your lucky you can get them at those prices I usually see the X1800 GTO for 280-290 CAN + tax ratehr then 250..

Though on the other hand I can find 7600 GT's for 230 CAN or so...
 
I am not sure where people get the idea that X1800GTO is cheaper. X1800GTO ranges from $200 to $250 USD.

The 7600GT is significantlyly cheaper with almost identical performance. With this card being the best value at $177 (there are even cheaper ones): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125025

Seriously the 7600GT is what a midrange should be. Efficient with all the important features and capable of passive cooling. Believe me the X1700XT is what you want if you are an ATI fanboy. It doens't hurt when 7600GT's bang for the buck ratio is better as well. X1800GTO doesn't even have enough horses to do serious HDR+AA so why bother. For overclockers the possiblity of 4 extra pipe might be worth it, but for gamers and HTPCers the 7600GT is simply a better all around choice at a lower price.

Nevermind, didn't see original poster's prices. However I find it hard to believe 7600GT is so overpriced in Canada. You gotta shop around more. 7600GT should be much cheaper.
 
gto for unlockability(not100%) and overclockability with software voltage controls and its better for the games i play
