...I think this one is the scariest. Watch the whole video and imagine that thing chasing you down some dark street in the future.

Raptor is a fast-running biped robot developed by MSC Lab, KAIST. It has two under-actuated legs and a tail inspired by velociraptors. The Raptor robot runs at a speed of 46 km/h on a treadmill with off-board power. Tail-assisted pitch control provides stability over high obstacles

Oh god....I couldn't stop laughing while it was running at top speed. :D

Can't wait to see it out running on its own.

although the cheetah legs are the way to go for a high-speed biped, i'm not so impressed by this demonstration - the boom tells me they are only at gait development, working in the first of six degrees of freedom.

it's fast, but dumb. the obstacles cleared happen to fit under it's stride, and are cleared (barely) after the 1st foot crashes into it for the 2nd foot to land on. while airborne, the rig continues its stride as if it were on the ground, because it has no idea if it's on the ground or not. as for the "tail" it looks like it serves as more a gyro than active balancing. i guess it also acted like a nerf bar. humans do the real thing with actively controlled powered arms, but the concept has already been demonstrated using freewheeling weighted arms, left to find their own rhythm in the gait.

i give it a "meh" until they reach a great deal more maturity.

This is just the beginning.

The robots are going to rapidly progress in the coming years. Can you imagine what they will be capable of in 20 years?

Truck sized drones that drop a dozen attack bots with a mix of arms like 50 cal to all the explosives it can carry might make being a militant a lot less fun.

Power supplies may be a limiting factor for some time though.
