Of all the new bands, who will be around in 20 yrs.?

When you look at the longevity of The Stones, Aerosmith, & The Who (just to name a few) I got to wonder which, if any, of today?s bands will still be rockin 20-30 yrs. down the road????

as with any era, i would hope that the crappy bands disappear, and the talented bands would (gasp!) grow as musicians and move on to something new and innovative after a while, instead of playing the same old recycled crap for 20 years. real musicians evolve.

Part of the reason Aerosmith is still putting stuff out is because of an insane contract with their record company. THey are pretty much forced to pump albums out.

Hmmm, I still think Bowie, Peter Gabrial, Elton John and Eric Clapton are at least good. The Who, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Ozzy, Springsteen and Aerosmith are plenty good too. WTF, there's no damn competition today anyway, so they don't even have to try hard!

rhcp. oh wait.. 2 more years, and it's 20! WORD!!

man...they have been rocking for so long.....look how they have changed too.

speaking of things going for a while...at the end of the simpsons current contract they will be the longest running sitcom. what could be better?!!!?

50 Cent.

HahHAhAHah.......

Umm........ I think Britney will still be big in the 2020's. (she will be like Barbara Streisand though 😀)

hm, that's a good question... i really have no idea who has the lasting power to go 20 years... there are bands i like, that i know won't be around 20 years from now.. it's hard to say.

Slightly off topic as we are talking about new bands, but Ronnie James Dio is going to be rocking till he dies. That guy is almost 60 and he still sounds (and looks) like he did 25 years ago.

Also Iron Maiden has a chance to match the Stones, Aerosmith, and The Who. They have been together since the mid 70's (although their first album came out in 1980), and they show no signs of slowing down. They still aren't that old either.

Up the Irons!

I'll probably get flamed for it, but Billy Corgan will be another artist that will just keep going and going and going. Les Claypool and Jerry Cantrell are also in the same boat.

Radiohead has the potential to do so, however, I can easily see them separating for "artistic differences." Phish will still be rocking til they're dead. And, unfortunately, Dave Matthews is probably gonna be around a loooong time, I'd say at least another 10 yrs.

U2 maybe. But I wish most of these "bands" who perform "music" would just go away. Give me the oldies anyday over the crap that's on the current pop stations.
