I drink a good amount of cheap coffees. Usually I either do Maxwell House (at my parents), Sam's Choice 100% Arabica at my girlfriends, or Chock Full o Nuts at my place. I really don't have a problem with either of those 3 drinking them black.

Well my GF ran out of coffee and got a 1 lb bag of folgers. This is literally the worst coffee I've ever heard. It's like a vile substance and either of my 3 'regular' brands, which are actually cheaper than folgers is, are much better.

Boo to folgers.

I agree, I thought I sucked at making coffee, until I got a different brand. Turns out, it was impossible to make Folger's taste good.

I get the Grocery store brand most of the time for home.

:(

My friend makes Folgers. He was part of the design team for the new plastic can.

That said, the coffee sucks....he doesn't even drink it. Their production facility is awesome though.

Try the chock full o' nuts at HEB. I know the Congress/Oltorf one has it, and the hancock center one too, but not the one on riverside for some reason. walmart doesn't carry it.....it's a really good cheap coffee

Folgers = Nasty, nasty stuff. I'll agree with you there.

Chock Full O' Nuts = That's all we drink at home. Even their N.Y. Decaf blend tastes great if you desire unleaded coffee. :)

I'd kill for Folgers here at work....

We use the Arrowhead coffee service, and even their "100% Columbian" tastes like dirty dish water. :(

Personally, I'm a bean grinder. A bag of Starbucks, or even some bulk bean Millstone (dark roast). I don't buy coffee unless the beans are black and oily.

Where do you work? You couldn't get one of those 4-cup coffee makers? At a place I worked last summer, we used a really nasty coffee service. I saw quite a few people brewing their own coffees....space permitting, of course.

This thread makes me laugh because last weekend I was at my friend's house. We wanted some coffee and he gets out the Folgers. It was so disgustingly awful, that the first sip almost went airborne. :)

For all you people at work with crappy coffee...We just switched our coffee provider here at my office. We buy freshroasted, whole beans at $4/lb. straight from a wholesaler. They also gave us a commercial grade coffee grinder to use for free. :) This thing ROCKS. The coffee is FAR superior to anything at that price point. It's nothing fancy-schmancy, but it is very drinkable. Ask your boss if you can check around for a better deal.

Which Folger's are you drinking? The "Special Roast" and "Custom Roast" ARE pure crap...........the 100% Columbian is pretty good, though.

chalk full o nuts is actually not bad considering its god awful name.

Maxwell's flavored blends are a little to weak for me, or they just taste too oily. Doesn't have enough 'kick' in them. Their regular blend I like though.

Heh. Starbucks taste like...they filtered the coffee grinds with green beans. I also don't know how you can drink that crap black.

Starbucks is also over priced for what you're getting. 2.60 for a latté. I mean hell, it's just 1 part espresso with 3 parts milk, and comes optionally with a shot of vanilla flavoring in it for an extra 30 cents!

You *do* see the building, the chairs, the people working behind the counter, right?

If you charged $.50 for a latte, yea, uh, you wouldn't see that starbucks there much longer.

Starbucks prices are in-line with every local coffee shop here...even the coffee stsands on campus that don't offer you nearly as comfy of seating.

Well thanks for stating the obvious that I did not mention. Of course I would have to agree.

People at the office buy Folgers. If it's brewed strong, it's not that bad, but it's hard to get the exact amounts of coffee/water. I had some Mellita (green can) that was much better, but I cannot find it anymore. Bought Gevalia a couple of times, but no luck with those I tried. Ok, but not worth the price/hassle.

I also bought some Mexican brands that were better. Still have a can of some Italian espresso to try.

Years back, Wal-Mart had some 100% Arabica (not origin stated) that was excellent. Didn't try it recently.
