When something is OEM, doesn't suppose to come with the hardware also? i.e audio cable with DVD, screws, power cable?

I have order plenty of OEM stuffs from different vendors, and have always get all the hardware that suppose to come with it... minus software or box (that's understandable).

Now in this case is the NEC 2510a from Newegg, it comes with just that the DVD writer and nothing else, not even a screw.... ??? :| I know on their site it's stated that the item is OEM, and no software included, which I don't care much for, but where the heck are my hardware? :|

what you see is what you get, look at the pictures to determine what it comes with

Yeah, because the damn HDD don't need anything else.... like audio cable for instance. I'm sure they left the jumper on there for you.

I bought the NEC ND2500A OEM (shame I didn't wait a few months for the dual layer 2510!) and it came with 4 screws 4 washers 1 spare jumper and a pin for the emergency eject in a little bag. I guess some give more than others. :)

OEM typically would not include any of that, occasionally some will.

Besides, who here doesn't have a drawer full of CD audio cables, IDE cables, & screws?

Any more I just toss CD audio cables - I never use them & I have way too many around as it is.

All the drives that I've ordered from newegg have come with software, cables, and screws. I'm pretty sure I ordered OEM too since they come in bubble wrap.

Could be wrong, but it's OEM software that usually has to come with a piece of hardware, is it not?

what tickes me off is OEM software doesn't come witm Microsoft support but no one warns you. How the F was I supposed to know I would be calling newegg to help me with Windows problems and microsoft would try to charge me to fix their busted ass software

It all depends. I've got OEM stuff with software. I've got OEM stuff with nothing.
Now you know, there is no standard for what is included with OEM parts. Live and learn.

Yes, I now I know some companies are just cheap and just trying to make that extra buck, i.e strip the damn thing bare so they can sell an audio cable for 5 bucks, and everything else as accessories.... etc...
