I'm sure this is an easy one, but I can't seem to wrap my head around it.

On newegg you can get an OEM version of Vista Ultimate for $199 while the retail for the "upgrade" version of Vista Ultimate is $250.

If this is the pricing scheme why would any home user waste money on getting the upgrade retail version when the OEM is so much cheaper, and from what I read it doesn't have to be an upgrade.

You're right, this is an easy one.
Go to OS.

(also, if you get the OEM it really limits your upgrade potential, I dont know the specifics but if you upgrade too much you cant use it anymore. Also cant use it on a whole new machine. Retail is MUCH better for geeks.
