I was looking to build another machine, but I don't want to spend the $239 for Vista home premium at bestbuy. But I noticed that a smaller chain of stores has the OEM version for $103(huge difference). If I purchase this OEM version, will I be getting less product? Whats the difference between the two?

thanks, in advance!

The OEM version is licensed to the motherboard you install it on, so if you buy another motherboard in a year you need to acquire a new license (but can transfer the current license with the motherboard to someone else)

So, even if you changed motherboards once in the next year, buying two copies (206) is still less than retail. (Retail allows you to transfer it to whatever machine you like as long as its only on one machine at a time)...

Other than the license differences, the code is exactly the same...

I got Vista Home Premium for less than $75. It was pre SP1 so I had to do that myself. It was the upgrade version and I wanted a clean install. I just installed it without entering the key then reinstalled it from within windows as an upgrade. Didn't need my XP disc and saved qute a bit of money. It's not OEM so I'm not tied to any piece of harware.
