How risky is oem stuff? I found a vid card that I want for a great price minus cd, cables etc. Yes this is an oem refurb and how well do they work out?

Want to make the purchase tonight, any help would be appreciated thanks!

Warranty still stands at 30 day and 1 year.

Refurb? Don't bother. It was most likely returned becuase of a problem or some sort. However if you're ordering from a place like Newegg you might be able to return it if it doesn't work.

Was it returned to newegg you think or to the manufacturer and then sold and purchased by newegg at a reduced price?

OEM is ok.. just means its the barebones verison of an item, no fancy pretty box and all that fun stuff... usually OEM comes with the cable/disc that the retail has, but no marketable box...
Refurb is totally different... that is an item (usually sold and brand new retail) that has been sent back to a company for some reason. Most of the time that means the product didn't work, though it could also just be as simple as it wasnt quite what the person wanted, and changed their mind.

Buying OEM is great way to save some money (i mean what are you goign to do with a pretty box besides throw it away or have it take up alot of space in your cloest).

Could also mean that the 4 extra pipes failed to unlock and the vertex shaders failed to unlock and or they experienced artifacts after unlocking the pipes and shaders so the chance of me getting a card might mean no extra pipes unless I spend the 189.00 to get a new one that may unlock 4 pipes and 2 shaders which would make the card perform far better than the refurbed unit, I guess I answered my question thanks! That and only a 15 day warranty and sending it back at my cost which I just returned a gigabyte card that failed so I will not buy that after considering all of the above.

I wouldn't hesitate to ever go with an oem product. At least if it's from newegg. I may wonder about other places though. I prob wouldn't buy a refurb product.
