Oem/Normal packaged windows 7

So I noticed on every site, there is a oem just 1 plain disc in a cardboard box for the BUILDERS version of win7, the other doesnt say that, it looks like it would be for computers that dont have win7, but do have an OS. So Im building this system from scratch, I know how to install it. Just wondering what version of it to get.

the OEM/System Builder versions, is for someone who is building the computer that needs an os, but there are some stipulations.

1) there is no tech support, meaning that you yourself have to support it, not like buying from hp or dell, and you call them. not really a big deal for some people

2) it is tied to the 1 machine(MS identifies a machine is the motherboard) only. cannot transfer it to a new computer if building a new one. although people have done it.

the normal/ packaged versions, the only real difference is that it allows you to migrate the os to other machines.

By system builders it means people building PCs to sell to other people. There's no tech support because you're supposed to be their first contact for support and you should have an agreement with MS in case you need to escalate an issue to them.

The second major restriction, like Dahak mentions, is that the OEM license is only allowed to be installed on 1 PC ever. You can't transfer it to a new PC, which is why it's so cheap compared to retail which can be installed on any number of PCs consecutively, but not concurrently.

well thats interesting, but it doesnt matter to me, I dont need support for it, plus I only need it for 1 computer only. I wouldnt upgrade the mobo ever though. If I did it would be a new build. but im not doing that anytime soon at all. ok so last question, can you buy the oem version just at staples or do I have to get it from newegg?

Newegg.....as far as I know, Staples, OM, OD, BB, et al, only sell retail versions.

Full version includes 32 and 64 bit disks, oem is one or the other.
Newegg usually charges about $100 for oem 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium, with occasional discounts of 5 to 20 % though this may rise a little.
There is occasional competition.
It is best to buy from reputable sources as counterfeits are out there.
