Your Opteron is fast enough.

Nevar! :p

I want an E6600 @ 3.4+ GHz, as that will destroy my Opty for encoding DVD9 > DVD5, as well as increasing my fps a little i imagine ;)

I would be fine with an OEM CPU, but $380 for an OEM 6600 is too much. I would prefer to wait and get a relatively good price for the chip, rather than pay a premium and get it a few weeks earlier.

Hey, this is how I see it, not very long ago at all, every single person who bought an X2 got a worse deal than that, price/performance. I just absolutely hate MicroCenter. If it were the Hari Krishna's (sp?) selling them door-to-door for that price, I'd be much more likely to buy it.

OEM cpu's are perfectly fine with me. I haven't used a stock cooler in ages. CPU warranties don't mean diddly squat to me, I overclock them and take responsibilty for screwing them up when I do. I'm in no rush for a Conroe...way too immature of platform at this point...

oo, it says that it shipped which means I got one! no tracking info yet but thats a good sign that I got the ship notification! the cust srv order taker said that I would get a ship notice if I was getting it or a delay notice. I guess Im getting one soon then!!! too bad I will be away for a week camping....

They way I figure it, ive have had all the parts except for the cpu assembled and waiting for a few weeks and im sick of waiting. either I pay $50 more now to get it or get a cheapo celeron for $50 while im waiting. id rather have the real thing and not get a celeron which I wont ever use again.
