OEM battery chargers

I need to buy a li-ion battery charger for a camera battery and the price difference between the OEM charger and "compatible" chargers is amazing ($65 vs. $15). Is there a real difference or is this more "brand profit" stuff. Are they just as good for battery life & safety?

Thanks

I would think that they are just as good. A charger is a charger. The only thing that I would watch out for is charging speed. I'm not a big fan of speed chargers because charging at too high of a current (mA) can damage the battery and cause it to lose charge quickly. But if it charges at the same speed as the OEM then it should be good to go for your batteries.

That was my impression. It is interesting that the camera company charger doesn't have spec listed, except on the charger. They don't want us comparing products or they don't think it is necessary.

Thanks
