OE won't recognize imported email

I used to be able to just copy the contents of the OE store folder that contained the old email into the store folder of the new system, but it's not taking. This system did not have any folders. It only had about 1600 emails in the Inbox.

When I first copied the old dbx files into the new store folder, it showed the 1600 emails in the Inbox (as a number), but then when I clicked on the Inbox to read it, the number went away and the Inbox was empty.

I then tried importing the messages via FILE>IMPORT, but to no avail.

Thoughts?

I tried importing it via OE's import feature...to no avail. I also tried exporting it to Outlook on the old system, but was not successful.
