are there any email progs out there that support hotmail out of the box, without having some proxy running all the time? OE keeps giving me double messages and I can't fix it, and I don't like the web based format of hotmail.com

i dont know either but im trying to migrate out of OE but i couldnt find a way to make hotmail work with Thunderbird. I still use my hotmail because i get very little spam and use it for things i signed up with a bit back, Ebay, snapfish and what not. Actually i signed up for this account in 97 and still use it. Went through the whole dot com boom on FREE Dial up so i don't have an old ISP email account. My current ISP (dsl) is almost 2 years old now, but i don't use it to sign up for new services.

sid, I do know that there are programs that act like a pop3 server, that can check hotmail. what they do is(I think) sit in your system tray, and any pop3 email prog can connect to the program. If you don't mind having that program open all the time, then those would work fine. I'm looking for a complete email program that can check hotmail on its own.

Doh!

You can use hotmail popper which is a plug-in program for any e-mail application to check the hotmail accounts. It only activates when the email application connects to the hotmail account.

i get about 3 pieces a day. I used to get loads but i went through and i removed myself from the listings. I guess it worked except for the few that use spoofed email accounts.

I also have a webbased email and it would get bombarded with junk. I took the time and unsubcribed from them all. That accounts gets about 5 pieces per week.
