Ya when I was young I did get swept up in the Reagen fever. I had been in this country for only 4 years and was getting close to my citizenship. Ultimately I take no blame for Reaganomics since my first vote ended up being his second term. By that point I was a little older and a little nuttier but saw the economic progress as reason enough to vote.

Slowly the savings and loan scandals broke and the seeds of deregulation were sown I began to see the underlying problems of what was my party.

Interesting that you should mention the MSP bridge collapse. Its amazing to me that the crumbling state of our infrastructure isnt a top 5 concern for the electorate. Sadly we are going to see these types of catastrophes growing in the coming years...

shens- Obama was the most thoroughly vetted nomiee in recent times. Most people ignored the Rev Wright spin since by the same token anyone attending Pat Robertson's church or even Billy Grahams church should suitably be smeaned. To most of us how we pray is a very personal thing and found it refreshing that he didnt wear it like a suit to suit his needs. You also clearly do not understand what it is like being a minority or especially black in Chicago. Socially, economically, or publicly.
I do agree that Sarah Palin did get slammed by the media when she broke but the reason she was was because nobody had ever heard of her before. She had a weekend of vetting at best and was basically vetted on the job.

I think the main issue with her is:

1) Work background: How is she supporting herself if she only made $5,800 from 3/2009 - 6/2010? She's never been married so who is supporting her and why isn't she disclosing how she is paying her bills? Why would someone want a person who's never had a real job to fix the Delaware/US economy?

2) Educational background: Why did it take her 9 years to pay the judgement she owed to her college Farleigh Dickinson (filed in 1994, she paid it in 2003); isn't it the same "charge it now, pay it later" mentality that tanked our economy? Also, why did it take her 16 years to finish an English BA and only do it this year when she knew her background would be scrutinized?

3) Blatant Lying: Saying she beat Biden in 2 counties which was obviously as false as saying the sky isn't blue, and saying she went to grad school in her lawsuit against ISI.

4) Religious issues: She claims to be a Christian and against mastrbtion/pre-marital sex but she's never been married. So she's a real life 41 year old virgin? I'd love to see someone ask her that.

5) Irrationality: In a debate last week, she claims that there is more evidence that God created the earth in 6 days than there is for the theory of natural selection. While I am a believer in creationism, even I admit that there isn't ANY evidence that God created the Earth in 6 days other than the Bible.
