What a great idea . . . a little program that does Yahoo Messenger, AOL IM, and ICQ.

It's at Download.com, just do a search for Odigo.

omni is another proggy that does much the same, plus links the user to napster, msn, and gnutella clones

Uh....Odigo fvcked AIM. It wouldn't connect to AIM, and then, on top of that, I can't connect to AIM either! It starts to connect, then says "You are attempting to sign on again too soon."

HELP!!!!!!

Plz help! I've uninstalled and re-installed AIM, uninstalled Odigo and deleted all the folders it left behind too. Still no luck. I'm downloading Odigo 3.1 now, not sure why, but I had 3.0 before so I figure why not...

How is AOL not allowing Odigo to use their instant messaging system the "right thing?"

I still get AOL's advertisements in my mailbox; the only difference is that I'm not using their crappy messaging program. Do they have banners on the IM screen now, or what? I stopped using AOL when they disallowed Odigo access.

<< Do they have banners on the IM screen now >>

Yep. That is why it is the right thing.

YES, just the other day I was facing Odigo problems (which I did make a thread about), but I went to the Odigo website, and they have a patch just for that reason. Now I'm back to Odigo!

The best feature would be the message storing ability.

Don't care how many people click on them but someone paid to put them there. Why should AOL let something they own and make money off of by selling ad space be used for free in a manner that may cause them to lose those advertising dollars?

They spam the same advertisements anyway. Their advertisers are still getting bang for their buck.

Odigo would be well served to enter into a licensing agreement with AOL. I'm sure a lot of people would rather have one IM window open than several. I have friends and family on AOL IM, ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN Messenger. It's a pain to have all four open at once.

I've finally gotten back on AIM tonight, and now I'm going to bed. I've given up on the "universal messenger" programs, because neither of the ones mentioned in this thread worked properly for me, and one of them ended causing a lot of trouble with an existing program.

Pieces of crapware.

MaxxChat has some hope ... once you disable the toolbar (and just use the IM client). MSN, ICQ, and AIM to date.
