odds of 1.6a hitting 2.133 with no voltage tweak

i am building a super cheapo box, and well its got a $70 ECS microatx integrated mobo in it. I figure i'll put a real graphics card in it when i can afford it.

Anyways, i'm either gonna go with a $100 cpu with fan cpu on ebay which is possible, like a 1.5 williamette.

Or a 1.6a . which is $135 + $8 shipping + cali tax for me from newegg so $150.

i dont want to spend the $50 extra if i cant get 2.133 at default (this board supports 533bus but not voltage tweaks). so is it pretty likely that if i get a retail box 1.6a that i'll get 2.133. like what are the odds of that working?

It's very possible to get to 2.133 at default, but if you don't then there are physical volt mods you can do to the CPU involving wrapping a wire around some pins of the CPU (search for VID pin mod)

Plus the 1.6a will be running faster(extra 100Mhz and 512K L2 cache) and cooler than the 1.5 Willy chip

The odd is very good. Mine went up to 2.4 with default voltage.

By the way, retail 1.6a is going for $133 with free ship @ newegg....
😀
