Odd WiFi Experience in iOS

I had a weird WiFi issue occur with all of my iOS devices (that are using WiFi) last night, and I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before.

So, I went to download the Google+ app last night on my iPhone 3GS (4.33-JB), and I realized that I turned WiFi off when I was doing some Splashtop Remote testing. So, I turned WiFi on and closed Settings, which is how I do it most of the time since my router has already been setup. I realize that it's not connecting to the router, so I go back into Settings and try again, but nothing shows up under available routers.

At this point, I'm wondering if it's a router problem, so I get my iPad 2 (4.3.3-JB) out. I first notice that the WiFi icon is gone, which is not common. I tap settings and it flashes open for a second and immediately closes. I assume it crashed (only poorly-written 3rd party apps have ever crashed on me), so I tap Settings again and immediately my iPad hard crashes to an off state. I turn the iPad back on and wait about 20 or so seconds, which is its normal boot time. I notice that it hasn't turned on yet, so I decide to power cycle my phone as well.

My phone took about 30 seconds to shut down (versus the normal 5-10 seconds), and about a minute to start-up (versus the normal 20-30 seconds). The iPad took about an minute and a half to start-up. When both devices were finally operational again, WiFi was working fine and the devices seemed normal.

So... any ideas as to what happened? I should have probably gotten my laptop out to check and see how it connected. If you're curious about the router, it's a Netgear WNDR-3700 with both bands enabled (simultaneous dual-band) with both set to operate at up to 300Mbit. I believe automatic channel selection is also enabled for the 5Ghz band.

Are you connecting to an wireless N router? We ran into issues with our iOS devices when we had N/G running with the same SSID until we changed a setting on the access points.

Yes, the WNDR-3700 is simultaneous dual-band with a/b/g/n support.

I've owned this router for about... 3 months now I think, and this is the first time that I've noticed this problem. Although, I only recently enabled true wireless N speeds. I found out that WMM (a QoS setting) is required for speeds greater than 54Mb/s regardless of spec. I normally disable all QoS stuff, so I had disabled it, and I wondered why I could never connect faster than 54Mb/s on my laptop (that has an Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN).

So, if your issue is related to those speeds, I only enabled that maybe 3 weeks ago.
