Odd: Unstable/lockups during multiplayer gaming

TwiceOver

Lifer
This is kinda odd. When I play any game single player my system runs fine, after a few minutes of hosting a multiplayer game my system freezes up.

Specs: (All items running stock speeds)
Athlon XP 2400+ cooled by SLK-800A w/ 3000rpm 30cfm 80mm fan
A7N8X-DLX rev 1.04 bios 1006
512mb Corsair TwinX PC2700 (2x256) dual channel
Phillips Acoustic Edge Sound
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Using Onboard 3Com Network Card
46gb Maxtor Primary HD
120gb WD Secondary HD
Sony 48x CDRW
Windows XP
21" Primary Monitor
17" Secondary Monitor

Solutions/Tests I have tried:

Prime95 16hrs w/ no errors
Memtest86 v3 23hrs no errors
3dmark loop 10hrs nothing locked
Prime95 & 3DMark Ran both for 14hrs with no errors and no lockups
CPU Regreased Temps stable at 40c full load while running above test
Disabled second monitor
Decreased memory speed to 266 instead of 333
Changed 8x AGP to 4x
Turned off fast writes
Updated drivers
Updated Game Patches
Virus Scan is clean
Clean Install of XP with formatted Primary Drive.

I'm kinda at a loss. This problem happens under NeverWinter Nights, UT2K3, RTCW.... Havn't really tested any other games. If I host we can usually play for anywhere between 5 - 30min before it locks up. However I can play any of the games for multiple hours (till I get bored) and will get no lockup.

Have you patched the games?

Looks like you tried a good deal of other solutions....

2400+ with an SLK.. STOCK!? Overclock that. ( once we figure your problem out of course )

i agree, the added speed is inconcequential in comparison to the actual overall speed of the processor. plus the heat it generates isnt worthwhile

Is it internet multiplayer of LAN setup?
And do you have any issues if someone else hosts, or is it only when you host?

Usually internet gaming. I should try to have someone else host... The reason I host is cause I prolly have the best system out of all my friends.

Tell that to my 1700+ and the hundreds of others with similar overclocks. Intel or AMD.

I have a CPU that is faster than any AMD offering, for $50 bucs.

My temps run @ 50c, P95 certified.

Case Closed.
