Odd typing issues in XP

Very strange. I am a relatively fast typer. In the neighborhood of 80+ WPM. Something that is fairly recent and possibly started with XP SP2. WHen I am typing, specifically in say this forum or perhaps Word, but not notepad for some reason, if I type a certain keystroke sequence, the cursor jumps around. I may jump to somewhere else in the body of the post. Perhaps up to the Message title. This is a random occurrence as near as I can tell but it is more common I've noticed when typing the letter b. If I slow down then it does not happen. It just happened when I typed "this" in the sentence before this one. It is not specific to a particular system however it is, so far anyway, specific to XP. All my xp boxes are SP2, including work, so I don't know for sure if it is related to SP2 but it has only been happening in the last few months. It is, as I am sure you can understand, very f'n annoying. I have googled and so forth. Thought it might be some odd Type Ahead issue but I can't really find anything on it. At first I thought well, maybe it's just me, but since it does occur on multiple machines that is hard for me to believe. Slowing down on the typing is a workaround but not something I am particularly happy with. I finally said f it, and figured I'd post something here and see if at least anyone else has ever experienced it. It's happened three times while typing this post. Nothing in any keyboard control panel applet that I can see nor Word or IE properties. It is odd that I cannot duplicate it in a simple text editor like notepad however. Anyone have any ideas?

As an aside, occasionally I'll be typing a post and it will backtrack completely, taking me out of the post window or if on another board, taking me back (just happened after typing the b in back and again after the b in back in this () and the r in after) to the previous page. Incredibly frustrating.

what kb is it?

also, have you got shortcut keys disabled - it may be with your 5 strokes a second, the kb controller is picking up certain combinations for browser navigation.

try a different kb.
try your kb on a different computer.

if the kb isn't a problem, let us know

I appreciate the input but it isn't the keyboard. This happens on multiple machines. The one I am typing on now is a dell laptop. I agree it's a keystroke sequence. Just can't find any specific trends except it happens when I am typing certain letters, b for instance is a bad one. Anyway, thanks for replying.

Press Shift quickly for 5 times. Also, try keeping shift pressed for a longer period. The first is to identify if you have activated some Accessibility Feature, the later is to see if you have activated Sticky Keys.
Disable everything you can about that, and try again. Also, is this related only to Internet Explorer, or is it occuring in Firefox/Firebird? (version 0.6.2 does not need installer, it just packs everything in a folder)

Yes, as I said, pretty much any application, although I haven't been able to do it in notepad. It isn't sticky keys though I appreciate the suggestion. I hadn't looked at that. No, I am convinced that it has something to do with XP SP2 because it is only after I started installing it on all my machines that it surfaced. Not only does it happen within firefox, but it happens on all my machines withing firefox. I've given up thinking it is an accessibility feature and for awhile I thought surely just because I type fast can't mean I am the only one experiencing this. It is specific to either keys or key sequences. the letter b is a definite culprit. I have almost trained myself to anticipate the b key (though it just happened when I typed that b) and slow down. It isn't only b though (I slowed down that time and it didn't happen) however I can't really figure out any other specific letter. I noticed last night it happened when I typed that and bingo it just happened on "the" so perhaps it is the letter h. So I appreciate your input but I really need input from someone that is experiencing the same thing. I am a tech with 10 years in the industry so I've tried the typical and obvious things. Thanks though.
