I just reinstalled windows on a brand new 150gig raptor, and all seems to go well until the strange crashes ive gotten. First thing i noticed was a problem installing a game, and my cd drive couldnt read the disk, and my system would lock up, excpet i could use the mouse fine, but no matter what i couldnt end the process or app.

The next thing i noticed were a few of my programs crashing, and after they would lock up (and the process was ended) my system would stutter and lock, then move at normal speeds, like stop and go.

I checked my CPU usage, and it stays at a costant 2% with now spikes. The page file usage is also just about 1% of my memory.

Adobe after effects just crashed, and after i ended the process this laggy thing is happening, the only way to fix it is to restart.

As i type this message my system is stopping and going, i can type perfectly fine, but it seems like its the hard drive (although its not making any clicks)

I do have the nforce IDE SW drive installed...could that be it? I had no problem with my other drive and this running it.

The lock up only seems to happen when a program crashes.

EDIT:
Just got a BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD after the reboot.

xp home, service pack 2, HD at default.

I found that western digital Life guard tools is causing the BSOD. Everytime i load it up it happens...but, that's not the main problem here (although im sure it may have something to do with the hard drive.
